Jesus Cried Out.

Today, so many years ago, is the day that Jesus was crucified for our sins. He was sinless, blameless, completely Holy and righteous; yet He laid down His life for you and me! Just thinking about that brings tears to my eyes. I am not worthy, but He loves me still. I sin and fall short daily, but He loves me still. He sees the depths of my heart, but He loves me still!

This is heartbreaking, uplifting and humbling all at the same time. Would you be able to do what He did? Would you send your only son to die for the sins of the world? Would you lay down your life so that others might be saved? God did!! Jesus did!! And because of God’s love and Jesus' sacrifice we have the blessed chance to be with Him in heaven. We can ask Jesus into our hearts and He will reside their filling, guiding and completing us until we get to go home to Him!

While hanging on the cross Jesus cried out seven times, I read those scriptures this morning and just sat in their words. All of His words spoke to the depths of His love for us.

Luke 23:43
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

This, He said to one of the criminals as he hung on the cross between two of them.  One was insulting Jesus while the other stood up saying…Luke 23:40-41, But the other criminal rebuked him.  “Don’t you fear God,” he said “since you are under the same sentence?  We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve.  But this man has done nothing wrong.

John 19:26-27 (NIV)
26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Even in the midst of what He was suffering; Jesus felt such great compassion for His earthly mother and His disciples.

Mark 15:34 (NKJV)
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

This was said in accordance to Psalm 22:1

John 19:28 (NKJV)
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”

John 19:30 (NIV)
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Luke 23:46 (NIV)
46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

He breathed His last, but all Glory and Praise to God that He is alive and risen!  Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of God…oh what a Glories sight that I long to see!
