Happy New Year

I've never really been one to set New Year’s Resolutions (how many times have you read that in social media this last week or so..lol).  In my mind it was just a silly little thing that people never kept up with and just did because that's what everyone else was doing. Over the last couple years though, I tend to look at it a bit differently.  I will say that I think I still try and trick myself into believing that I'm still not exactly setting one, but instead I just say that I'm just striving for better.

For the past 4-5 years I have said that I was just going to try and be a better me; better wife, mother, friend and most importantly child of God. Every year we all experience good and bad times; times that cause us to question ourselves and our choices.  This is when we realize that there are things that we need to change not just around us, but also within us.  And...yes, sometimes the start of the new year is just what we need to give us that motivation and jump start.

I think one of the problems that most of us have with New Year’s Resolutions is that we set unrealistic expectation and goals for ourselves.  When we can’t meet or even keep up with them we become discouraged to the point of giving up all together.  We’re thinking; it’s New Year’s so we have to go big and reach even higher than before.  Truth be told there is nothing wrong with that however; we have to set realistic steps to these goals.  This helps us stay focused, on track and encouraged; and if you’re anything like me you need all the help you can get to stay on track.

With all that being said, my goal this coming year is to continue to be a better me.  I realized over this last year that while I blog and have a public FB page dedicated to spiritually uplifting others, there is more that I can/need to do.  I want to serve God more; to be the hands and feet of Christ. I belong to an awesome church that reaches out into the community and yet my fear of stepping out of my comfort zone tends to keep me from participating. I love to help others, but sometimes just get so comfortable in my own little bubble that I keep the helping more to my prayers and writing.  I’m realizing that for Him I can be so much more.  I can’t rush into and do everything that my church organizes, but I choose to do more for Him this year.

So what are your plans or New Year’s Resolutions for this year?  No matter what they are--set realistic, attainable steps so that you don’t get discouraged or down on yourself. My prayer for you is that no matter what your plans for tonight are or for the up and coming year that God will bless you.  I’m praying that you will put Him first and allow Him to order your steps; that you will be prosperous and have a year full of love, joy and peace.

Be safe and be Blessed friends.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Day 25 of Advent

Day 25 of Advent
Gifts from the Magi to Jesus

Matthew 2:11
On coming to the house, they saw the child with him mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.  Then they opened their treasures and presented  him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!  Praying this day finds you all well and that you have enjoyed our journey through Advent as much as I have.  It's fun to give and receive gifts for Christmas, but it is so very important for us to know and to teach our children what the real meaning of this season is.

Jesus was born with a purpose greater than we may ever truly understand; it's because of Him that we have access to God and if we give our lives to Him will be blessed to one day see Him face to face. I don't know about you, but that creates a fire and joy done in the pit of my soul that nothing compares to and compels me to share Him with everyone I can.

God loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for our sins, to wash them white as snow; so that we may be present with The Lord in Heaven.  My prayer for all of you and your families is that you know Christ for yourselves; that you will allow Him into your hearts and you too can celebrate the true reason for the season...THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST.

May you all have a very Merry Christmas and a safe Happy New Year!!

Day 21 of Advent

Day 21 of Advent
Revelation of Jesus as Christ the Savior to Simeon and to all the people

Luke 2:25-32

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout.  He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.  It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord Christ.  Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts.  When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God saying: ‘Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,  you now dismiss your servant in peace.  For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.”

Day 20 of Advent

Day 20 Of Advent
Sacrifice of doves by Joseph and Mary, Holy Spirit like a dove at his baptism later in life.

Luke 2:22-24, 3:21-22

When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, ‘Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord’) and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord; ‘a pair of doves or two young pigeons.’
…When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too.  And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’

Day 19 of Advent

Day 19 of Advent
The name of Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means “the Lord saves”.

Luke 2:21
On the eight day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was names Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he hand been conceived.

The name above all names...the name of healing and power...love and peace.  Oh how I love the name JESUS!!
